Filmmakers Start Campaign to Grant Liberal Director Josh Fox Wish and Send Him to Hug ISIS

When President Trump authorized the military to drop the mother of all bombs on Afghanistan to hit ISIS where it hurts, several liberals were not impressed. The real solution, they tweeted, is love, not violence. Filmmaker Josh Fox, who is behind the anti-fracking films Gasland I and Gasland II, was just one progressive who decided to speak out against the bombing and offer terrible foreign policy advice. On Twitter, Fox suggested that “#love stops hate, and bombings only create more #ISIS.”

He appeared to be reacting to the enormous bomb that was dropped on an ISIS base in Afghanistan. It reportedly killed 36 ISIS militants while causing no apparently civilian casualties. Josh Fox called this “unjustifiable mass murder,” and equated it to the brutal terror that ISIS imposes among innocents.

Filmmakers Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney, who have long trolled Fox for his climate change activism, want to help Fox be a part of the peace process he seeks. The duo has started a crowdfunding campaign entitled, “Send Josh Fox to Hug ISIS.” Should they reach their $2,500 goal, the filmmakers will have enough to pay for Fox’s airfare to Afghanistan, two nights in a hotel, “and a dozen roses so Fox can show ISIS how much he really loves them.”

If Fox refuses the money, McAleer noted he will be exposed as a “hypocritical fraud.” But, the campaign will not be for naught. The filmmaker explained that if Fox rejects them, the funds will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Dear Friends

As journalists, our job is to call out those who demand others to do things they wouldn’t do themselves.

For the last several years we’ve been keeping tabs on Josh Fox, the godfather of the anti-fracking movement and the director of Gasland I and II.

And he just came out with an extraordinary claim that giving love to the Islamic State instead of sending bombs is a much better approach.

So we’re going to give him a chance to do just that. Today we’re launching a $2,500 fundraiser to send Josh Fox to ‘hug it out’ with ISIS.

Fox took to Twitter after President Donald Trump dropped the Mother of All Bombs in Afghanistan, saying, “Atrocity. Murder. Abomination. When will we learn that only #love stops hate, and bombings only create more #ISIS? #moab #stoptrump.” A second tweet read, “Love your enemy. Don’t create more of them. Teachers, diplomacy, culture and aid helps peace. Bombs don’t. #MOAB #murder #NoMoreWars.”

The fundraiser will pay for Fox’s airfare to Afghanistan, 2 nights in a hotel and a dozen roses so Fox can show ISIS how much he really loves them.

If Fox refuses to go and turns out to be the hypocritical coward we believe him to be, then we’ll donate all the funds raised to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Fox has shown no indication of principles or spine in the past. He has literally run away from journalists asking tough questions, stormed out of interviews that didn’t pat him on the back, and, most notably, lied about a connection between breast cancer and fracking.

It’s time for Josh Fox to put his hugging arms where his mouth is. Please help us raise $2,500 to send Fox to Afghanistan to hug it out with ISIS.

You can donate $1, $10, $25 or more on our campaign page HERE.

Please also spread the word and share the link with your friends and family.

Again, if Fox refuses to go and hug ISIS, all funds raised will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Thank you,
