Great tragedies bring out the best and the worst in human nature, but for liberals, it is simply a time to crack wise.
David Leavitt, a freelance journalist for CBS, AXS, and Yahoo News made a disgusting joke on Twitter about the recent terror attack in Manchester while the bodies of the victims were still warm. David Leavitt has since deleted the tweet after receiving replies from thousands of people offended by the journalist’s remarks.
He wrote: ‘MULTIPLE CONFIRMED FATALITIES at Manchester Arena. The last time I listened to Ariana Grande I almost died too.’
Angry Twitter users flooded the accounts of CBS and other websites, demanding that David Leavitt be fired immediately.Mr Leavitt later deleted his original tweet but continued to joke with his followers.
He wrote: ‘Now I have a small insight of what Donald Trump must deal with on a regular basis.’
At the time of writing, the tweet has been replied to more than 24,000 times, with almost everyone voicing their disgust over the clearly inappropriate tweet. Leavitt is a liberal and a self-described member of the resistance against President Trump. It must be easy to oppose Trump’s tough on terror approach when you think terrorism is a laughing matter.
Details of the explosion were only just coming to light on Tuesday morning, as fears grow that it was carried out by a suicide bomber. The bombings have claimed the lives of 22 and injured 59, with children among the dead. The wounded were reportedly showered with glass and metal nuts after a “huge bomb-like bang” went off as people waited to leave the arena after the show finished.
