The nine-year-old Texas girl whom President Donald Trump asked the nation to pray for is out of the ICU after successful brain surgery.
Sophia Marie Campa-Peter of Brownfield had brain surgery Friday at Boston Children’s Hospital where medical professionals say she is exceeding their expectations since leaving the operating room.Sophia suffers from a rare disorder where the blood vessels in her brain close up, causing her to have constant strokes.
So ahead of the surgery, Sophia started a petition, calling for people around the world to form a prayer chain for her and President Trump was one of the many who joined in. Her request went viral and attracted Trump’s attention. Sophia requested that the world pray for her as the upcoming operation came near, with a goal of 10,000 prayers.
During a press briefing last week, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders passed along an encouraging message from President Donald Trump:
“He told me to tell you to keep fighting, to never give up, keep inspiring us all, and never, ever lose faith in God. With Him, all things are possible.”
Sophia’s father, Scott Andy Peters, posted about his daughter’s recovery on Facebook Sunday morning, saying she’s getting back to her “normal, goofy, silly self.”
