VIDEO: Classroom Becomes Prayer Room For Muslims at Liberty High School in Texas

In Liberty High School ,Texas there’s a special space for Muslim students for daily prayer sessions provided by the school. School officials initially opened up a small conference room for Islamic prayers in 2009 after they noticed some Muslim students leaving on Friday afternoons to pray.

“This is my seventh year at Liberty, my first year it kind of started when a core group of students were leaving campus every Friday for Friday prayer,” Principal Scott Warstler said. “Their parents would come pick them up, so they may miss an hour and a half to two hours to two and a half hours of school every Friday, so I met with those students and a couple of their parents and suggested if they would be okay if the students were able to lead the prayer at school as a group, and we gave them a space to do that so they didn’t have to be in a car traveling thirty minutes each way on a Friday missing an hour, hour and a half, of class.”

It started with a small group of students in one of the AP conference rooms, but as more and more students got involved, it was moved to a classroom.

While the accommodation for Muslim students has been ongoing for several years, the student website just reported on it this month. Local radio station KERA also picked up on the matter and spoke with Warstler and some of the students involved.

“It’s a Friday afternoon, a little after 2, at Liberty High School. Student Zaki Sayyid recites the Islamic call to prayer. He and 10 other Muslim students are inside a classroom, on their knees facing east,” the station reported on Tuesday. “Girls wear hijabs. Everyone’s taken off their shoes. They spend the next 15 minutes in prayer. This isn’t a common scene at most schools. But at Liberty, it happens every Friday.”

At many public schools, religion isn’t talked about openly. This is America, or at least it was. With nonsense like this we really have to question just how far our country is going to bend in the name of political correctness. So why is there not a Christian chapel? How about a mini-Synagogue for the Jewish students that go to the school?

Something awful has happened to this country where Christians are having their rights trampled while Muslims are being granted a special status all in the name of political correctness.
